Practicalities

Moving abroad? Here is some useful information about what to expect in terms of educational system, finances, accommodation and many more.

The Danish Educational System

At Dania Academy the opportunities for further education and enhancing the qualifications of you, or your employees, are plentiful.

Dania offers a variety of academy educational programmes as part-time studies, complete with varying courses at our eight campuses, as night, day and weekend school.

An AP Degree is a higher educational programme that gives you qualifications well suited for use in the business world, for instance qualifications in management, administration, financial management, marketing management and communication.

We offer both single subject courses and a complete educational programme in seven different post-graduate educational programmes.

Upon completion of an AP Degree, you will have the opportunity to progress to a diploma degree.

  • What is an AP Degree?

An Academy Profession (AP) Degree Programme is a type of higher education with a duration of two years that combines theoretical studies with a practice-oriented approach

The AP Degree Programmes are offered at Academies of Professional Higher Education in Denmark. The Academies have fewer students than universities since they offer a limited number of study programmes, facilitating close contact between students and companies in the region. The AP Degree Programmes make use of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS), a common European standard, where 60 Credits correspond to one year of full-time studies at higher-education level. The Marketing Management, Hospitality and Tourism Management, Auto-Technology & IT-Technology Programmes are two-year, full-time educations that correspond to 120 ECTS Credits.

Career Prospects The AP Degree Programmes are designed in close collaboration with representatives from relevant sectors of business and industry to ensure that the graduates get the qualifications and competencies needed by the industry. The educations include guest lecturers from private businesses, company visits and a 3 months' internship in a Danish or foreign company. The close contact with business life gives the students an excellent starting point for finding a job after graduation.

Further studies An AP Degree is comparable to the first two years of a 3-year Bachelor Degree. Because of this, AP Degree Programmes also qualify
graduates for further studies at universities or business schools in Denmark or abroad. Dania Academy has agreements with a number of Danish and European universities about accepting our graduates for a top-up Bachelor Degree.
Read more about the Academy's partner universities.

Quality assurance The AP Degree Programmes are approved by the Danish Ministry of Education.
  • What is a top-up programme?

The Bachelor's top-up takes 1½ years and is for students who have already completed an AP degree programme or similar.

By completing an AP degree programme and the top-up programme, you will obtain a Bachelor's degree. You will be awarded 90 ECTS points for a BA top-up programme.

  • Exams

During your studies you will have tests and exams. Some will be written while others will be oral. At the end of your studies, you will be required to write a final assignment/project that you will subsequently defend in an oral exam.

You can read more about the Exams Regulations here.

Feeling at home abroad

Introducing the Buddy Program - created with the help of our students.

The Buddy program is specially designed for our international students with the aim of helping them integrate in the Danish society. We want our students to feel ''at home abroad'' and to help them mingle better both internally and externally with businesses and the community

  • What can Buddies do for you?

Buddies are responsible with the following:

    • Picking up international students from the airport/bus station
    • Inviting them to events and parties
    • Organizing venues involving sports and fitness, cooking, outdoor activities etc.
    • Showing the city (stores, bank, other facilities)
    • Being contactable

International students will be in the good hands of the buddies and their needs will be taken care of.

The Buddy program will also help students network and meet eachother even before starting the courses at the academy.

Aside from the practical aspect, the programme is also good for improving the students' language skills as well as the personal and professional skills.
