Programme structure

The International Hospitality Management programme is designed to combine theory with practice. The first two semesters are taught at the academy through a combination of classroom teaching, company visits, projects and case studies. In the final semester, theory is applied in practice through an internship in a company of your choice and a final exam project.

The top-up programme consists of five core areas: Employee and Organizational Development, Employability, Business Operations, Hospitality and Hostmanship, Strategic Value Creation.

The core areas

  • Employee and Organizational Development

This subject element covers management, hospitality and cultural and guest perceptiveness in relation to developing oneself, employees and the organization.

  • Employability

The purpose of the local educational element Employability is that the student pick up the ability to analyse and reflect on own competences in relation to needs of the industry. In addition, the purpose is that the student based on an analysis of own competencies can schedule a personal development plan as well as a development plan for others. The development plan must aim to develop competences, which the industry demand now and in the future.

  • Business Operations

This subject element covers management of finances, expenditure and income in relation to the company’s sustainable development. There is a focus on management assessment of operations development within the participant’s own organization.

  • Hospitality and Hostmanship

This subject element covers cultural and guest perceptiveness and communication and developing these in the company with focus on developing a hospitality/hostmanship mind-set that can create value in the company.

  • Strategic Value Creation

This subject element covers strategy and finances in relation to developing new and existing focus areas. The focus is on developing a mind-set that can handle changes and ongoing development, while also implementing strategic decisions.

Internship

In order to create the right balance between your theoretical knowledge and your ability to apply it in practice, you must spend three months as an intern in an organization. Through the internship, you will contribute to creating value for the company while also developing your personal and professional competencies. The internship experience will give you an insight into life in the real-business world after graduation.

The aim of the internship is to ensure real-life competencies and the development of professional and personal vocational competencies.  You will solve practical problems on a methodical basis by using relevant theories and models, and thus creating value for the company.

The internship is worth 15 ECTS.

You will find an internship in close collaboration with your internship counselor, and together with the internship company you will set some framework and criteria for the placement. All internships must be approved by Dania Academy in order to ensure the quality and relevance of the internship.

To make it easier for you to find a suitable internship, we have created an internship portal which serves as a recruitment portal used by both students and companies.
