Originally from Jordan, Kareem came to Viborg in order to study Automotive Management at Dania. After many hours spent in the workshop, lectures, study trips and exams, the 24-year-old student has one more step to overcome before graduation. Kareem chose to travel to the UK for a three-month internship at Emerald Autoservices, a family business that offers professional garage services.
‘’I chose going to the UK because it has a wide market for different car makes and modules. Here I also get the chance to improve my English’’, says Kareem
Management responsibilities
The knowledge gathered during the Academy Profession Degree qualified him for a good position in the company as well as complex tasks.
‘’I have been appointed workshop manager and I deal with customer service tasks and liaising with customers. In addition, I am gathering technical information about their vehicle faults, consulting with the mechanics, ordering parts, pricing up and estimating prices, giving quotes, and even selling cars’’, explains Kareem.
His good theoretical background was used in the benefit of the company several times. ‘’At Dania I got to use the latest technology equipment and had the chance to practice on the latest car modules and this helps me a lot during my internship. In addition, a project I worked on came in handy and saved the company investigating time on a faulty gearbox case’’, he says.
A future entrepreneur
The company Kareem works for has made having a ‘’happy customer base’’ its primary focus. Therefore, management, entrepreneurship and communication skills were those that attracted them to hire Kareem.
‘’I am applying theories learned from the Entrepreneurship specialisation classes, the Service course, communication, and quality. Having all this theoretical knowledge in my backpack and some practical experience, I hope to be able to fulfill all my tasks and maybe even more in order to know how to run my own workshop in the future,’’ concludes Kareem.
