Kristena is doing her internship in her home country in one of the most prominent national companies. Microphone Records, leader Latvian record label and distribution company accepted the student from Viborg as part of their team. For the next months, Kristena will have the great opportunity to work in Riga with some of the best in the industry.
Many companies said Yes!
The application process was quite simple in Kristena's case. "I found my internship fast, but I spend at least 4 hours when I send my applications to companies. Before that, I spend more time just searching for e-mail addresses from companies what I liked. In the end, I sent 66 applications, got answers from approximately 40. Of course, there was a lot of "No, thanks, but also a lot yes, so i was able to choose what I like."
A learning experience
After the first month in her internship, Kristena is thrilled about her tasks and responsibilities. "In few days it will be one month around, when i am here. I really like to be here in this company. I have already been to some events, helping backstage and working with all the famous singers. My internship brings me many fun and new opportunities." The 19-year-old student rapidly adjusted to the organizational environment which she describes as "a place where everybody does everything, which is helpful, enabling you to learn more this way." Some of her tasks include social network superintendence, writing press releases, searching for sponsors, engaging new clients and many more.
Theoretical knowledge in use
The AP degree student sees the whole experience as a learning process, but more importantly, as the perfect environment to exercise her theoretical knowledge. "Now I am starting to understand how to use my knowledge in real life, so I can use what I learned. I am beginning to write my final project and it is obvious that I will need to use everything and even more to get the best results. Now I am thinking - Yes it was true that I will be able to use projects A, B and C in one piece now!"
Kristena, just like most students has given her future some serious thought. She sees many opportunities opening up for her at Microphone Records and has already agreed to continue working after the internship for several projects. "My plan after internship is to continue working here with some projects what we will start now and implement them in summer", says Kristena.
After the internship, she intends to continue her education in Denmark or UK in order to get her Bachelor Degree.
Erasmus+
Even though Kristena is doing her internship in her home country, she applied and been granted with the Erasmus+ support. The financial help is very useful for the Marketing Management student. ''I applied for Erasmus+ even if I am in Latvia. I do not live in the capital city so I am using the financial support to rent a place here in Riga where my internship company is located. For this matter, I believe that the support I get from Erasmus+ is very helpful'', says Kristena.
