A technical sector for a Marketing Management student might be a challenge for many, but for Maybe Biswas things are different. With only little knowledge about the industry, the Marketing Management student from Viborg embarked into an interesting journey and started her internship in Vejle at BizBrains. "To be honest, at first I was more afraid about the language barrier than the industry. It was a Danish company and I thought I will be excluded, but I had the nice surprise to be welcome by everyone and to get involved in so many projects and activities. I started learning about their products and services and I tried to do my best and understand the technical concepts in order to do my job well. It gets easier with time", explains Maybe.
Day-to-day tasks
During her 3 semesters at Dania Academy, Maybe had the opportunity to gain valuable theoretical knowledge and apply it in several occasions with school projects and workshops. "I am using a lot of the knowledge I gained from the first 3 semesters. Now I look at things differently and I see theories and models come to life. As daily tasks, I work with market research and market analysis. I am looking at internationalization also, hoping to write my project about the British Market", says Maybe.
The Marketing Management student is used to drastic career shifts and therefore adapting to the new sector was quite easy. "I have a Master's Degree in Botany and I shifted to Marketing. Now, even though I am still studying Marketing Management, I am working with an It company. We worked with so many projects at Dania and with various industries, reason why I now managed to adapt to the new change in my career", explains Maybe
Recommendations for future interns
"I would strongly recommend that future interns have basic Danish language skills. I am sure I would have been given tasks that are more complex if I spoke a bit of Danish. During my internship, all employees were so nice and they translated everything to me, but I truly believe it would be better if the future intern will be able to break the language barrier. Also, don't be afraid of technical industries. As long as you have the will to learn about the product or service you are working with, you will adapt easily and you will learn to love what you are doing", smiles Maybe.
