Setting high career goals worked for Annija who decided to try her luck when choosing an internship company. She took matters in her own hands and directly applied for an intern position.
‘’I found my internship online on a Latvian webpage and I wrote an email with hope that I will get an answer. I chose it because Coca-Cola is a well know brand around the world and because due to its complexity. I thought it would be an amazing opportunity to learn from the best during my internship; and if Coca-Cola doesn’t know marketing, then who does?’’ smiles Annija.

Doing marketing for Coca-Cola – what is it like?
Annija’s tasks list is eclectic including product launch presentations and fieldwork. However, her focus is marketing and her primary goal is better understanding how marketing works in real life at a large scale.
‘’I am translating presentations about new product launches, I present them to some of the costumers, I participate in meetings with costumers and in making special events. Moreover, I sometimes need to get out of the office for shop visits where I must check if the beverages follow the marketing guidelines that have been set by The Coca-Cola Company’’, she explains.
Being part of such a big enterprise can sometimes be overwhelming, but overall there are plenty of positive sides. One of the aspects Annija is interested in is how can a brand survive over time.

‘’Be happy, you are getting smarter’’

After succeeding in finding a great internship, Annija feels that other students should follow her example and dare to dream big. Her studies and her experience at Coca Cola have taught her to be positive and see things differently.
‘’Don’t be afraid to challenge yourselves. If you find yourself stuck in learning theories, don’t waste any more time and come study in Denmark. It can sometimes be difficult, but in my opinion, knowing how to apply theory in real life is more important than memorizing theories. Take your studies seriously, take from them as much as you can and be happy; you are getting smarter!’’ concludes Annija.
